Film Night Double Bill

Join us for an evening of dance film, beginning with the world premiere of Liminal - a new film starring Ismael Nchoutnsu Nsangou, with music by Hughie Gavin. Using contemporary and Bamoun movement, Liminal follows an internal journey through the weight of being seen, judged and acknowledged - exploring the duality of the mask worn for others, and the one that turns inward when you're alone. Following the screening there will be a short Q&A with Ismael and the Common Grounding team. We then screen A Story, An Invocation, An Opening, a short film by Rhiana Bonterre - a layered, embodied work blending movement on the English coastline with carnival streets, archival footage from Trinidad and West African spiritual practices, asking what our bodies might still be holding and what moving them can ignite. The evening closes with an extended soundtrack and an open invitation to dance.
